Audits and Inspections

Inspections

Essex based businesses of any size can now benefit from having a food safety consultant on hand to answer their questions and check standards. Our food hygiene inspections are typically carried out every quarter by one of our Environmental Health Practitioners. We will give advice and point out what you need to do to comply with the law ahead of your formal council visit. Benefits include:
  • An hour long visit to check food safety standards in your kitchen.
  • Expert advice on food safety issues.
  • Practical & cost effective tips on meeting legal requirements.
  • Help completing paperwork.
  • List of action points and practical assistance when required.
  • Pest monitoring is included in the service saving you money.
  • Advice if things go wrong.
  • Assistance when dealing with your EHO.
All from just £50 per visit based on a rolling agreement.

Audits

Larger businesses can benefit from quarterly detailed food safety visits by our Environmental Health Practitioners involving several hours onsite checking and updating paperwork, giving advice on best practice; followed up with a detailed report listing action points to move the business forward. The audit can be tailored to your specific requirements to focus on priority areas and form part of an incentive scheme for employees.

  • An officer spends their day checking standards, discussing best practice with your staff and following up with a detailed written report.
  • You get expert advice on food safety issues when you need it.
  • Advice on meeting legal requirements.
  • Review and updating of your paperwork each visit.
  • Report of action points and practical assistance when required.
  • Pest monitoring is included in the service saving you money.
  • Advice if things go wrong.
  • Assistance when dealing with your EHO or food safety complaints.
For approximately £300 per quarter depending on the size and location of your business.

Reactive visits

Ideally you will want to be proactive in meeting legal requirements by arranging for us to visit on at least a quarterly basis but we understand the pressures of business can catch us short and require a reactive response on occasion.
We can inspect your kitchen following an EHO visit (or when you realise things have got too much) to put together an action plan and response to your EHO, showing them you are taking your responsibilities seriously and are putting things right.
  • We will look at the specific issues that have been raised to establish the best resolve.
  • Identify any further issues or concerns to be addressed.
  • Quote for any work required such as training, sorting out your HACCP paperwork, deep cleaning, or dealing with pest control issues.
  • Provide a report for your EHO to view.
  • Consider if the rating you have been awarded is fair or should be appealed.
  • Where appropriate we can help you appeal a hygiene rating, or apply for a re-rating inspection.
Our Essex call out fee is £125. Additional work will be quoted accordingly depending on the extent of work required.
